Women in physics – Springer Nature competition on diversity, equity and inclusion in Italian science

2023-03-28

Despite good results in higher education, women are under-represented in STEM disciplines. This year, Springer Nature is partnering with the Italian National Institute of Nuclear Physics and the National Research Council (CNR) to put a spotlight on women in physics, organising in a competition to recognise the next generation of Italian researchers.

The contributions are evaluated by experts from the National Institute of Nuclear Physics and the National Research Council – Research Institute on Population and Social Policies (CNR-IRPPS). The competition highlights the commitment to gender equality, and manifests efforts through the European network GENERA (Gender Equality Network in the European Research Area), and MINDtheGEPs, where CNR is partner.

The competition (with a deadline mid-March) required contestants to produce a video for social media on the topic of Women and Research in Physics: between gender stereotypes and professions of the future. The winners will be awarded in a prize ceremony in Rome on 29 May 2023.
