Our approach to evidence-based policies for Gender Equality Plans in Spanish

2023-05-12

MINDtheGEPs includes partners from seven European countries and aims to empower women in decision-making in research organizations. One of our partners, Automotive Technology Centre of Galicia, CTAG, is located in Spain and whose team will be contributing to the project’s efforts. With their help, we have translated our recent policy brief to Spanish, offering recommendations for how to build an evidence-based foundation for gender equality plans for all Spanish speaking countries!

¡No hay políticas! El enfoque de MINDtheGEPs de políticas basadas en evidencias para Planes de Igualdad de Género. To have facts and figures at our disposal helps us take cultural and structural actions towards achieving gender equality. However, the landscape of research and innovation in Europe is varied, with both public and private partners, with our Spanish partner CTAG representing the latter.

With help from Gema Antequera, Project Manager at CTAG and Adrian Lomba Pérez, we have translated the first in our series of policy briefs from MINDtheGEPs. The policy briefs build on data from 7 research organisations providing evidence-based recommendations for how to build an evidence-based foundation for gender equality plans (GEPs) in research performing organizations. Based on the assumption that without data there will be no policy. The Spanish brief is titled Sin datos: ¡No hay políticas!

CTAG is a non-profit research centre located in northwest Spain and was established in 2002 to conduct research and development activities related to mobility. The centre’s primary goal is to enhance the competitiveness of automotive companies by acquiring and transferring related technologies, as well as supporting development, research and technological innovation in the sector. CTAG employs about 800 people, including researcher with PhDs, engineers and university graduates. The CTAG team will assist us in our effort to promote gender equality in research organisations by supporting women’s participation in decision-making roles. They will work towards raising awareness about gender balances of recruitment and promotion committees, they will focus on challenging gender-based stereotypes that are often associated with leadership positions.
