MINDtheGEPs at GENDERATIONplus conference on an “ERA of Inclusive Gender Equality”

One of MINDtheGEPs’ gender equality trainers, namely Monica Favaro from the National Research Council of Italy (CNR) recently participated in the conference ERA of Inclusive Gender Equality. Keeping the Momentum, Addressing Challenges through Joint Action. The conference was organised by our sister project GENDERACTIONplus and held in Brussels on 13 February 2024. The event convened stakeholders to discuss future priorities for inclusive gender equality in the European Research Area (ERA).

The ERA of Inclusive Gender Equality conference aimed to address ongoing challenges and gaps identified in the results from the GENDERACTIONplus benchmark studies on gender equality policy implementation in European research. Key discussions emphasised advancing intersectional and inclusive approaches to gender equality policy, with a focus on institutional change to foster an inclusive research environment.

A central aspect of the conference was integrating the gender dimension into research and innovation. Aiming to create inclusive research environments via institutional changes and enhance the quality and social relevance of research and innovation by integrating gender perspectives. MINDtheGEPs is also working to help research performing organisations do the same. You can read about our work to gender research and teaching in the section of our website about the key areas we are targeting, or visit our results pages to explore our deliverables on the topic. The outcomes of the discussions on 13 February will contribute to shaping the future ERA policy agenda and the next European framework programme for research and innovation. To further inform these discussions, GENDERACTIONplus issued a position paper outlining future actions and measures for gender equality in the European Research Area.

The conference was organised by Horizon Europe GENDERACTIONplus project under the auspices of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU.
