First MINDtheGEPs forum complete!

On 22 June 2021, we held our first MINDtheGEPs forum. Keynote speaker Flavia Zucco spoke on moving from discrimination to successful inclusion and the specificities of discrimination in science, and mechanisms of discrimination such as stereotypes about women and science, evaluation criteria, resource allocation, transparency, and family burdens.

Flavia Zucco is part of the professional association Associazione Donne E Scienza (Women and Science Association) and Head of Research at the National Research Council of Italy (Link removed) . In her talk, she spoke not only about discrimination in science but also about post-academic science, and what actions to take to promote women’s participation in science. Whether that be suppressing stereotypes, modifying evaluation criteria, adopting appropriate naming, or facing resistance to change.
