University of Gdańsk awarded for gender equality efforts

The University of Gdańsk, a partner in the MINDtheGEPs project, has been honored with the RównoWaga award in the Equality Policies and Mechanisms category. This award recognises organisations that actively promote inclusivity and equality in their practices.

The University of Gdańsk was acknowledged for their ongoing commitment to gender equality through several initiatives. These include the implementation of Gender Equality Plans for 2022-2023 and 2024-2028, made possible by the MINDtheGEPs project.

The University has also worked to highlight the contributions of women in science. It published the report Women in Science and organized the exhibitions to celebrate female researchers. In addition, the institution supports women’s career development and emphasizes the importance of including women’s perspectives in research projects.

The RównoWaga award is organised by Women’s Congress Association, Polish Confederation Lewiatan and Kulczyk Foundation. The award was presented to Professor Ewa Łojkowska, Head of the Department of Plant Protection and Biotechnology at the University of Gdańsk. She leads the MINDtheGEPs project for the university and chairs the Senate Committee on Social Responsibility, playing a key role in promoting equality within the institution.
