Achieving gender balance: Strategies for recruitment, retention & career progression

How can we create equal opportunities for women and men in recruitment, employment and promotion at universities? In this Open Forum, Ewa Stoecker and Małgorzata from the Jagiellonian University will share their learnings and insights on how to address these challenges.

Speakers: Ewa Stoecker, Senior specialist at Security, Safety and Equal Treatment Department (Safe JU) at Jagiellonian University & Małgorzata Grzelewska, Deputy Chancellor for General Affairs at Jagiellonian University

Ewa Stoecker, Senior specialist at the Jagiellonian University, will present the rationale for undertaking training activities related to supporting women's career progression. She will present the training support offered by the Safe JU training team at the Jagiellonian University: the trainings that have taken place so far and the opportunities to benefit from other trainings still to come.

Małgorzata Grzelewska, Chancellor at the Jagiellonian University, will present a systemic solution to include adequate gender representation in recruitment committees at the university. This procedure is called OTMR (open, transparent, merit-based recruitment) and has been active at the Jagiellonian University since 2022. She will present the development, implementation and the challenges of this procedure.
